Viva La Vida (report#37, 16/01/2016)

Today we continued charging the battery. Due to the low humidity level in the EGSE room (23%), it took first an hour – using our refined bath house technique – to raise the humidity back to acceptable levels. Despite this delay, the battery charging went very smoothly and full state of charge was reached by mid-afternoon. We are now fully ready for our Launch countdown rehearsal on Monday.  Monday, will also be the day of the first hazardous activity of the fuelling operations with the movement of the propellant drums from the general hall to the cleanroom, where they need to stabilise for a few days before starting the fuelling. In preparation of this, we had today our briefing on how to use the gas masks. Since it is the last day before the hazardous activities start and as such, from this moment onwards, the access to the cleanroom will be restricted we took the opportunity to make a last team picture in front of the Satellite.

It was a very good way to conclude our first week of work in Plesetsk, with all activities completed successfully and according to plan. So, tomorrow is a well deserved day of rest (Coldplay song “Viva La Vida”)!
